Simple, baked, lower carbs healthy replacement for French fries. This is TARO Root sliced thin or to your desired size. Usually prepared by steaming or in a pressure cooker, we like it crispy and stout. Hence i prepare this by slicing it, marinating it with exotic spices, and EVOO. Simply bake it in your home oven and for added crispiness, broil.
What comes out is a perfect guilt-free finger food that all the family will love.
Pro Tip To make this recipe, it is all about the baking temperature and time it takes to bake the taro roots. The longer you bake, the higher the temp, the more crispy it will be.
We make this a healthy dish simply by not frying it and baking it. That means less oil and is heart-healthy. Also, taro root is lower carbs vs typical potatoes.

1 KG Taro Root Fresh, peeled, sliced
2 TBSP Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 TBSP Fresh minced Garlic
1 TBSP Black Pepper
1 TSP Red Chilli powder (more fora bit of Zing)
Salt to Taste
Parsley to Garnish
Directions
- Take Sliced Taro Root and mix -n all the ingredients
- Lay flat on a cookie baking sheet
- Bake @ 400F for 20 mins. More if desired crispiness
- Garnish with Parsley
Notes
- The main issue is here how long you bake the taro root, if baked less then they are soft, if for an extended time they turn out to be like french fries, only baked not fried.
